Wales Book of the Year 2008 - The Long List


On the 12th of March The Long list for this years Wales Book of The Year was announced in 2 ceremonies in Wrexham and Cardiff, as usual 10 Welsh titles and 10 English titles were announced, these are competing for a cash prize of £10,000 in each category.

The short list of 3 titles in both categories will be announced in the Hay Festival an the 26th of May 2008 and then the 2 winners will be awarded at the Wales Book of the Year ceremony on July the 1st at the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff. Keep an eye out to see who clinches the prize!


World Book Day 2008.


Thursday the 6th of March was the date for this years World Book Day and as in previous years we celebrated the day in various ways, firstly the well known children’s author Emily Huws visited Llanfarian school, the children had an interesting morning in her company followed by the chance to purchase some of her books and get them signed, they also took part in a competition with book tokens on offer as a prize. This year is different form previous years as we will be celebrating throughout the year as it is National Year of Reading and also the week 7-12th of July is the Give a Book Week, keep an eye out for our future events.


The Welsh Academy Encyclopaedia of Wales.


After much anticipation the Welsh Academy Encyclopaedia of Wales was finally published – available in store at the introductory price of £50.00 while stocks last. (It will the rise to the publication price of £65.00 after this)


Gillian Elisa visits siop inc!

On Thursday the 13th of December the multi-talented Gillian Elisa visited the shop to sign copies of her new autobiography ‘Hyd Yn Hyn,’ we had a great morning with many people popping in to meet her.


Bont's Christmas Market

On the 2nd and 3rd of December we had a stall in Bont’s Christmas Market, this was the first time for the event to be held and it was a great success with a wide range of stalls all under one roof, also on the Sunday Planed Plant Bach’s annual show was there – something for the whole family and a great opportunity to do your Christmas shopping!

During October we launched our new range of shop vouchers after several requests from customers, they can be redeemed for anything within the shop from cards to crockery – a great gift for anyone!
